These chilled iron tappets have average face hardness RC62 to work with chilled iron camshafts and a narrow edge chamfer to accommodate high velocity lobe profiles such as GP2 and GP3. The face is gound flat for proper operation and wear and a manganese phosphate coating protects the surface during break-in. An oil drain hole in the side aids lubrication of the face.
Always replace tappets when replacing camshaft.
